A little while ago, I ran a weekly (that quickly became sporadic) newsletter that was a compilation of things I was reading or short pieces of my own in response to different issues and topics. The thinking behind it was that it would both be helpful for other GAMSAT candidates to have something to read in prep for S2 of GAMSAT and it could also act as an opportunity for me to continue writing in freeform on a variety of topics.
While I’m not an expert on GAMSAT, I would hope that these pieces demonstrate that there is a variety of writing styles and structures (to the point that I really don’t push for a particular structure at all) that can stand as their own piece.
